Wandsworth Swimming pools

The Daily Telegraph report last week into swimming pool closures highlighted just how important swimming pools are to local communities. Not only for pleasure, for children, for health, they play an active part in local life. The odd Olympian may also be unearthed from time to time. Which is why it is important to keep the Borough's pools alive and this includes lidos, too. The Wandsworth lido in St George's Park was shut down in the mid-90s, at a time when local authorites were denouncing swimming pools over lack of funds and other baloney excuses.

The Tooting lido is one that has faced its struggles in the past, while others remain a threat. The Telegraph's investigation only served the significance and what can be done if Wandsworth, or for arguement's sake Clapham Leisure Centre (pictured), is ever faced with similar woes.
